When you’re well known in your industry and the leads are flowing, there’s not always a problem for a super robust website to solve. Deskimate’s revolutionary way of handling catastrophe insurance claims has been turning heads in their industry for years — and they called up Kicks to have it turning heads through a simple “digital billboard”-style website.

Not a logo revolution, but an evolution

Deskimate has been rocking their logo for years, and were pretty pleased with the underlying design principles behind it. So instead of sending the logo back to the drawing board, we sent it to the digital beauty salon for a refresh. 

First up was a new typeface that’s cleaner, friendlier and easier to read — and helps Deskimate fall in line with their family of brands. We used the same thickness and boldness as their sister brands’ logos, bringing legibility and confidence to the forefront.

Next up was Deskimate’s color palette. We leaned on blues and greens to invoke security and wealth, which are just the feelings you’d hope to feel when working with a tenured insurance company.

Keep it simple, stupid

Deskimate’s new site is remarkably slim. With just three pages including a home page, a “who we are” page and a “what we do” page, it’s a far cry from some of the meaty, SEO-packed sites that Kicks has put together over the years — and that’s a good thing.

 See, web design and content development is all about meeting a need. Deskimate operates in an industry that’s almost exclusively based on word of mouth, so their need was less in the “get us new customers” department and more of a “make us look sexy and legitimate on the web” situation. 

So, we said so long to lead gen, adiós to conversions, and sayonara to ecomm — Deskimate’s slim new site gets straight to the point and looks damn good while doing it.

Kicks penned blogs that highlight the careers and creative processes of prolific furniture designers, and tied them to their respective pieces in Liberty & 33rd’s catalog. Now would-be customers can do their research right on liberty33rd.com and feel more informed about hitting the “add to cart” button.

There’s a lot to do at a modern yoga studio aside from slapping down your yoga mat for a vinyasa session. In addition to traditional classes there are any number of events, workshops and ongoing training sessions happening in the studio, and they’re not always easy to keep track of.

Once again, Mindbody was serving One Down Dog in some areas, but wrangling all those disparate events isn’t the app’s strong suit. Instead, Kicks implemented an Events Calendar to add some additional punch to the new ODD site.

The Events Calendar Pro plugin allowed us to build a category template selector that serves two great purposes. On one hand, it’s an all-in-one tool for ODD staff to manage all those events outside of yoga sessions. On the other, it gives some additional context and design for events that otherwise might get lost in the shuffle of the larger yoga class calendar.
